Pool Rules - Revised 6/2005

**The lifeguard is in complete charge of the pool area and has the authority to ask anyone to leave the pool if that person disobeys the safety rules or if his/her conduct is detrimental to the common pleasure of the other patrons enjoying the area. The lifeguard also has the right to deny the use of the pool to anyone who repeatedly violates the rules.

**Lifeguards are for safety purposes only. THEY ARE NOT BABYSITTERS. It is each adult's responsibility to maintain discipline and supervision of the child for whom he/she is responsible. Failure to abide by these rules will result in the pool privileges being revoked.

**A regulation swimsuit is required to swim in the pool. A swimsuit is defined as an article of clothing designed to be worn for swimming. Underwear is not allowed because it is unlined, may become translucent and, may be unclean. Underwear may not be worn beneath a swimsuit. Men's swimsuits may be shorts or briefs. Women's swimsuits are either one-piece swimsuits or bikinis. Anyone wearing a swimsuit that is too revealing (thongs, g-strings, swimsuits that are not the correct size) will be asked to change into a more appropriate swimsuit. The lifeguards and Pool Manager will determine if a swimsuit is inappropriate.

**Admission may be restricted pending size of crowd.

**Showers are MANDATORY before entering the pool.

**Persons having any infectious or communicable disease or open sores shall not be allowed to use the pool. (WV Dept of Health Section 9.2)

**Any patron in water deeper than the patron's armpits may be required to demonstrate to the lifeguard or Pool Manager on duty that he or she is capable of swimming the width of the pool in that depth. If the patron is unable to do so, he or she must remain in water that is below his or her armpits.

**Persons diving must be able to swim two widths of the pool upon request of lifeguards. Diving is ONLY permitted off the diving board.

**The Guards, at their discretion, have the right to deny use of the diving board to any person.

**If lightening is detected within eight (8) miles of the park you will be asked to leave the pool/pool area.

**Children in the wading pool are solely under the supervision and are the responsibility of their parent(s) or registered baby sitter and such parent or baby sitter MUST be inside the fenced area at all times.

**All injuries occurring within the pool area or rest rooms must be reported to the manager on duty immediately.

**Children ten (10) years of age and under shall be attended by one adult while at the Fayette County Pool or admission may be refused. If the one adult is swimming they have to pay the swimming price. If not swimming they do not have to pay. Any other adult who comes with the child, whether swimming or not shall pay full price to get in. Children exhibiting proficient swimming skills and appropriate behavior may be permitted at the pool without supervision, on an individual basis and under the direction and discretion of the lifeguards, but are subject to removal by the Pool Manager on duty if they create a health or safety risk.

**Foul, abusive or inappropriate language is not permitted.

**NO cut-off jeans or pants are allowed in the pool. This includes blue-jean shorts also. No street clothes or shoes are allowed in the pool area. No T-shirts will be allowed over bathing suits while in the pool.

**NO diapers are allowed in EITHER pool (wading or big pool), however, children in the wading pool can wear Lil' Swimmer pants. These can be purchased at the ticket booth or you can bring your own.

**NO spitting, blowing of the nose, or release of other bodily fluids into the pool.

**NO eating, drinking, smoking or the use of smokeless tobacco is permitted in the pool area - only in specified areas. Smoking is not permitted within twenty (20) feet of any entrance to the pool, restrooms, or ticketbooth.

**NO glass containers of any kind are permitted in the pool area.

**NO lifejackets permitted unless they are built into the swimsuit, WITH THE EXCEPTION FOR THOSE WHO ARE PHYSICALLY HANDICAPPED.

**NO baby cribs, strollers, or playpens are permitted in the pool area. At the discretion of both the lifeguard AND pool manager a stroller may be allowed, but MUST be kept ten (10) feet from the sides of the pool.

**NO picnic baskets/supplies, coolers, or lawn chairs are permitted in the pool area.

**NO musical equipment will be allowed in the pool area.

**NO recording devices at the pool. This includes film cameras, digital cameras, video cameras, cell phone cameras, and tape recorders.

**NO toys of any kind in the main pool. This includes swim rings for the arms, WITH THE EXCEPTION FOR THOSE WHO ARE PHYSICALLY HANDICAPPED. Artificial swimming aids such as air mattresses, rafts, and inner tubes are prohibited. At the discretion of the lifeguard/pool manager toys may be permitted in the wading pool.

**NO snorkeling or SCUBA equipment is allowed, including masks with a nosepiece. Guests may NOT use goggles.

**NO jumping into the pool from the sides of the pool.

**Running, horseplay, back flips, dive bombing, or pushing people into pools is STRICTLY FORBIDDEN.

**Flipping, throwing, sitting on the shoulders, piggyback rides, and other unsafe activities are not permitted.

**The Pool Manager will decide requests for refunds. All decisions are final.

**Only children under the age of two (2) are admitted at no charge.

**Season passes and daily admissions are not transferable. Immediate family includes parents and their children under the age of 18. Children 18-23 are included on family passes IF they are a full-time student. Proof of college status is to be provided by the parents. Immediate family does not include grandparents, nannies, baby sitters, nurses, caregivers, cousins, nieces, nephews, or out of town guests.

**Adults who are in the care of children who are not their own (a babysitter) MUST provide written authorization from the child's legal guardian/parent that the babysitter has guardianship over the child while in the care of the babysitter.

**Any other item or activity that creates a hazard to patrons or to the maintenance and operation of the Fayette Co. Pool is prohibited.

**All regulations cannot be placed on paper---use common sense when making decisions!

**Patrons who ignore these rules will be asked by management to leave the facility.
